WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE. ENJOY LOOKING AROUND!
Counseling sessions will last 60 to 90 minutes per week and on average will take six to eight weeks. This will vary depending on the individual, his or her motivation, and the particular problem. Marriage counseling may require as many as eight to twelve sessions. Substance abuse or severe problems may require many sessions with intensive accountability and follow-up. Most devoted counselees notice positive changes within the first few weeks.
Yes, sessions can be done by video. If you live in the Grand Junction area, meeting in person the first session is recommended. Video sessions are easier if you have a laptop, computer, or tablet (that can be propped up), and if you have good Wi-Fi. Your homework will be emailed to you as a PDF file. Have it with you, along with your Bible and a notebook, at each session. You may make payments for video sessions at the links below.
Grace & Peace Biblical Counseling is a ministry that operates on donations. Paul wrote, “The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him” (Galatians 6:6). The suggested donation is from $40 to $100 per session. Hardship cases are welcome, however.
Donations for counseling services are not tax deductible. Charitable donations (with no counseling services rendered) are gratefully accepted and are tax deductible. These gifts help those in need of counseling who have limited resources and also assists the ministry with expenses and growth opportunities.
Confidentiality is respected. A case may be discussed with other counselors or professionals, but only to the degree necessary to find further biblical solutions to the problem. All such consultation is conducted in accordance with the highest standards of biblical ethics. If information is revealed in counseling which indicates potential harm to the counselee or to others, the counselor may need to share that information with the appropriate authorities.
Health Issues - Biblical counselors believe in the total health needs of the counselee. The counselor may recommend a full or specified medical examination. If medical assistance is required, counseling will continue whenever possible.
Assignments - Counselees make more rapid progress when they are required to study or perform practical application assignments pertaining to their problem. We tailor these assignments to the individual counselee and his or her circumstances. The counselee will be expected to do the assignments on schedule and be on time for appointments, otherwise counseling will not continue. You will need a notebook and your Bible at all sessions, including the first.
Church Attendance - In order to achieve lasting victory over the problems of life, it is vital that each person become established in a consistent Christian walk. The Lord has provided the local church to help in this process (Hebrews 10:24-25). Therefore, we will encourage the counselee to attend church services weekly.
Be Encouraged! - Come with high expectations. You will find hope and encouragement even during your first session. From then on, with your cooperation, we are confident that you will find true, good, and acceptable answers to the difficulties that prompted you to seek counseling.
